The Psalms Within Us: Sacred Reflections from one of the Most Loved Books of the Bible (Volume 1) by L. Starling is an artistic view of inspiration, taken from the Book of Psalms found in the Bible. The author has added eye-catching fonts and creative illustrations to bring the psalms to life.

The Book of Psalms is one of the more intimate writings in the Bible. These declarations and prayers touch on every aspect of life. I'm an avid Bible reader so any book centered on or declaring biblical knowledge quickly catches my interest. Having read through the Book of Psalms, I found this presentation quite unique. The uniqueness had nothing to do with the psalms themselves, but rather the presentation. If someone were to take a porterhouse steak with all the trimmings, vegetables of choice included, and place it on a garbage can lid, I'm sure it would be passed up. The problem isn't the food but the presentation. In comparison, this author has taken a wonderful spiritual meal and prepared it in such a way that no one would refuse to dine.

I thoroughly loved the illustrations and found myself looking for angelic images within the design. The entire projects works well. If I saw this book in the store, I would surely purchase it. I recommend it to everyone who loves the Bible and to anyone who loves positive biblical readings. Even if he or she isn't a Bible-reader, the illustrations within the book will touch their spirit in a profound way and compel them to read a little further.

In fact, I started to cry when I read one of the verses and looked at one of the pictures … or shall I say looked within it… I can't believe what I can see! It's as if everything that was written in Psalms can be seen and even felt within the images. I've never felt anything like it except when I'm in deep prayer.
 
The images within this beautifully illustrated book is what attracted me in the first place. You really must look inside to know what I'm talking about. It's as if nature itself has a voice within the reflections. Of course, I've seen reflections of mountains in water and the like, but these are so much deeper, more personal. I purchased one book for myself and one for my best friend and just talking about what we both see has been such an amazing experience. Even my own children tell me what they see and we are all awestruck. It's one of the most amazing books I've ever seen. Certainly one of my keepsakes.
 
Not only is L. Starling a talented artist, but this book is an inspiration to read and makes a treasured gift for any loved one. I can't say enough how much I love the detail and beauty that complements this Book of Psalms. As far as the actual pages of Psalms from the King James Version, the format is just perfect for me to read. The text size is just a little larger than what traditional bibles are. Also these pages have three columns instead of the standard two that you normally see in bibles. I really like that. For me it's an easier format to read the bible. It's as if I'm reading Psalms for the first time.
